She comes from a broken family of five children. During a discipleship outreach in Kamengo (60km, from kampala along Kampala-Masaka road) held in october 2018, Tine on the mountain met Pauline who was severely sick and left alone at home with here younger siblings when the father had gone to drink alcohol and the mother had gone to the garden where she was working as a labourer. On further interaction, none of the children were going to school and Pauline had dropped out in P3 early that year.
